Mountain Ash, Sorbus aucuparia -
Soil Site: a medium size tree up to 30' tall that grows well in dry soil but prefers rich
moist soil. Use: recommended spacing is to plant each tree singularly 10 to 20'
apart. Fruit & Flowers: white flower and red-orange berry clusters -
in fruit August into winter. Wildlife Value: fruit and flowers valuable food for deer,
rabbit, ruffed grouse, and 15 species of songbirds, especially grosbeaks and
waxwings. Seed source: New Hampshire.
