Red-osier Dogwood, Cornus sericea - Soil/site: grows well in saturated soils; a small to medium sized shrub with bright red twigs; uses: good for stream bank erosion control; fruit: clusters of white berries in July and August; wildlife values: fruit preferred by many species of song birds and game birds, browsed by deer, moose, cottontail and snowshoe hare. Mature height: to 12'. Seed source: New Hampshire.
