Silky Dogwood, Cornus amomum - Soil/site: tolerates poorly drained soils; uses: planted for hedgerows, windbreaks and for stream bank erosion control; fruit: August and September - fruits are bluish in color; wildlife value: fruit eaten by game birds, especially important as a source of food for migrating songbirds; twigs are an important source of winter browse for deer and rabbits.
