White Ash, Fraxinus americana - A tall northern hardwood tree which prefers fertile, moderately well-drained soil. Produces valuable lumber; hard, strong, durable timber for furniture, interior decorating, tool handles, oars, musical instruments, baseball bats, and snowshoes. Provides a late winter food source for birds and small mammals such as wild turkey, evening grosbeak, cedar waxwings and squirrels. Mature height 70 to 80' (100'). Seed source: New Hampshire.
